About Us

Our Beginnings:

Eastgate Mentoring was founded in 2013 by Conor and Yoshi Powell. For the previous years, Conor and Yoshi worked in residential treatment, supporting youth facing the most challenging times of their lives. They worked alongside them as they faced their addictions and built coping skills to be happier, healthier humans. Again and again, they received reports on students who had transitioned home and had backslid into old dysfunctional ways. How to support these hard working youth, not just in treatment, but also at home?

The development of Eastgate was a response to this need for transitional support as clients returned home from treatment. The program was designed to be consistent enough to provide stability and flexible enough to serve the broad range of unique individuals that they hoped to reach. Over the years Eastgate has expanded to serve youth and young adults who could benefit from this type support, whether returning home from treatment, stepping into independence or needing extra help navigating this world as a young person.

In the past years, Yoshi has been at the helm of Eastgate as Conor has stepped into a consultant role. Together, they continue to serve families of the beautiful Bay Area.

“It may be that when we no longer know what to do, and when we no longer know which way to go,
we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.”
